French Decorative Bookbinding - Sixteenth Century

A study of

l'atelier des reliures LOUIS XII et FRANÇOIS Ie
the decorative bookbindings from the workshops of Louis XII and Francis I

Inventory - Page 2

I have separated these bindings from those on the first inventory page due to the fact that they appear to be a distincly different group. There may be some common tools (one) otherwise the heraldic elements are unique to this group with a different salamander, crown and ecu. They derive from the Francois Ier period but are perhaps later than the other bindings.
